Why Is It So Hard to Lose Weight?
You are not alone. Weight loss is a huge challenge for most people, especially if they’ve been overweight for a while.
Your body is designed to hold onto weight. During many points throughout human history, food has been scarce. Therefore, we store fat to have an energy source when we don’t have food.
On top of that, many factors increase the difficulty of losing and maintaining weight. Some of these include genetics, age, race, diet, physical activity, mental health, and lifestyle choices.
While some of these are within your control, others aren’t.
But science has come a long way to help people who struggle to maintain a healthy BMI. GLP-1 shots have proven to be highly effective for thousands of patients.

How Do GLP-1 Shots Work?

GLP-1 weight loss medications help you curb your hunger and regain control of your eating habits.
The GLP-1 receptor agonists in these shots act like the naturally occurring hormone that regulates appetite. This hormone, GLP-1, is produced in the digestive tract to tell your brain that it doesn’t need any more food.
But we don’t always produce enough of this hormone for various reasons. GLP-1 injections signal to your brain that you are satisfied more quickly than your body naturally feels full.
Slowing your eating pace helps you lose weight, especially when combined with a balanced diet and increased physical activity.
With GLP-1 Shots, you’ll start shedding excess weight, gain more energy, and regain control of your appetite and health.
Who is a Good Candidate for GLP-1 Injections?
There’s no medication that is appropriate for everyone.
Luckily, GLP-1 injections are an excellent solution for most people. It’s a heart-healthy medication, so you can continue taking it even if you have high blood pressure.
This medication is indicated for individuals with a BMI greater than 25. Whether you need to lose significant weight or just that last 10 pounds, it will help you reach your goals.
However, certain conditions may prevent you from being a healthy candidate for GLP-1 weight loss drugs. These include cancer or cancerous growths, decreased kidney or thyroid function, diabetic retinopathy, and acute pancreatic inflammation.
If GLP-1 isn’t right for you, your healthcare provider can discuss other alternatives and lifestyle changes to help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
How Much Do GLP-1 Shots Cost?
At North Texas Clinic and Rehab, GLP-1 injections are priced by dosage.
When you begin taking it, we start small and gradually increase your dosage over time. Everybody’s dosage schedule is different because we base it on your body’s response to the medication.
It’s also important to note that our prices should not be compared to others. We base our pricing on several unique factors. As a result, we are unable to price-match other clinics’ offers, and those clinics likely wouldn’t be able to price-match ours.
Our current GLP-1 Shots pricing is:
| Dosage | Price Per Week |
|---|---|
| 0.25 mg | $70 |
| 0.50 mg | $70 |
| 1.0 mg | $95 |
| 1.7 mg | $120 |
| 2.4 mg (max dose) | $120 |
At this time, we aren’t aware of any major medical insurance companies covering GLP-1s for weight loss. Therefore, these prices are based on cash-pay out-of-pocket costs. However, we do accept CareCredit.
How Medically Supervised Weight Loss with GLP-1 Shots Works
Before taking GLP-1 medication, we will ensure it’s the best medication for you on your first visit.
We will:
- Discuss your health history, current medications, and weight loss goals,
- Conduct a general health assessment,
- Run a full blood panel,
- And check your thyroid function.
Once we determine that weight loss medications are right for you, you’ll begin a series of weekly injections. The dosage will start at the minimum and gradually increase to allow your body to adjust without experiencing excessive side effects.
Some of those side effects can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. If needed, we will also prescribe an anti-nausea medication until the severity of those effects subsides.
What Can I Expect When Starting GLP-1 Injections?
Most patients notice a decreased appetite within a few days of their first injection. As you start to eat less, you’ll begin losing weight. You’ll lose even more if you follow a balanced diet and increase your physical activity.
(You can further support weight loss with a boost to your energy and metabolism with B12 Shots and Lipoden Skinny Shots. Ask your provider if these are right for you!)
Best of all, you won’t just shed pounds; you’ll feel empowered once you regain control of your eating habits. You’ll have fewer cravings, make healthier food choices, and have more conscious control over how much you eat.
That control is one of the biggest benefits of medical weight loss.
Once you’ve reached your target weight, we’ll continue monitoring your progress to determine the optimal maintenance dose. This will help you keep the weight off.
We know how hard it can be to lose weight, but you don’t have to struggle alone. Weight loss is within your reach with weekly GLP-1 Injections.
